Canal Park Parking in Duluth: What Guests Should Know
Canal Park Parking: What Guests Should Know
By Tiegen Brickson, co-owner, The Brix (Our Story) · Last updated October 2026
The quick answer: Canal Park has paid city lots, metered street parking with a 2-hour limit, and private lots. Rates change by lot and season, and some city lots go free in the off season. If you stay with us in the Waterfront Plaza building, guest parking is $17.50 per calendar day per vehicle with in and out privileges, and once you're parked you can walk to most of Canal Park.
We're Tiegen and Keenan. Tiegen grew up in Duluth, and we host families in Canal Park year round, so this is the same advice we give our own guests.
Canal Park parking: key facts
- 🚗 Our guests (Waterfront Plaza): $17.50 per calendar day per vehicle, in and out privileges
- 🢠Aerial Lofts guests: paid city lots within a short walk, plus a loading zone out front for unloading
- â±ï¸ Street parking: 2-hour limit, enforced year round
- 📱 Paying: city lots and meters use the Park Duluth app, a QR code or text-to-park
- 🎉 Event weekends: Grandma's Marathon, Bentleyville and summer festivals fill lots fast
How does parking work in Canal Park?
There are three kinds of parking:
- City lots. Several lots along Canal Park Drive and Harbor Drive are run by Duluth Parking. Most charge a daily rate in the busy season. A few are only open to the public on weekday evenings and weekends. Some have gone free in past off seasons, but check the signs.
- Street parking. Lake Ave. and Canal Park Drive have paid spaces with a 2-hour limit that's enforced year round. Fine for a quick stop, not for an overnight stay.
- Private and hotel lots. These set their own rates and rules.
We don't list exact city rates here because they change. Check the Duluth Parking site or the sign at the lot entrance.

Where do Brix guests park?
Waterfront Plaza condos (every Brix condo except Aerial Lofts): park on site at the discounted guest rate of $17.50 per calendar day per vehicle, with in and out privileges. Follow the parking steps in your check-in message to get the discount.
Aerial Lofts: use one of the paid city lots within easy walking distance, managed through the Park Duluth app. There's a loading zone right in front of the building for unloading bags and groceries.
Our tip: Park once and leave the car. Canal Park is small, and most of what you'll want is a 5 to 15 minute walk. Moving the car around usually costs more time than it saves.
What about busy weekends?
On Grandma's Marathon weekend in June, roads near the finish close and lots fill early. During Bentleyville (Nov 21 to Dec 26, 2026), lots near Bayfront fill on weekends. From our buildings, it's about a 20 to 25 minute walk, so walking is easier. Summer festival weekends at Bayfront are similar.
